Farm Updates
Winter has kept us reaching for our jackets, but it’s been a busy and exciting season in the vineyards!
Our team is currently pruning the vines, one of the most important tasks of the year. Winter pruning removes the previous season’s growth, allowing the vines to focus their energy on producing fewer, healthier bunches of grapes. This helps improve fruit quality, encourages balanced growth, and lays the foundation for an exceptional harvest in the season ahead.
While it has certainly felt cold to us, our vineyards have unfortunately not experienced enough cold days this winter. Grapevines need a period of winter dormancy, known as chilling hours, to rest and recharge. Sufficient cold helps ensure even bud break, healthy shoot growth, and consistent grape development when spring arrives. Without enough chilling, vines may awaken unevenly, which can affect both yield and fruit quality.
We’re also excited to share that we’re planting two new table grape varieties – Fire Crunch and Cherry Crunch. We look forward to watching these young vines establish themselves and can’t wait to see them flourish in the years to come. It’s always exciting to invest in the future of our farm, and we look forward to sharing this journey with you.
